Dylan was a remarkable athlete whose life was tragically cut short in February 2020 at the age of sixteen. He was known not only for his athletic talent but for his radiant positivity, compassion, and ability to lift the spirits of everyone around him. Dylan’s kindness and unwavering optimism inspired others to find joy and strength even in the most challenging moments. He was a devoted son, brother, and friend—an accomplished athlete and a natural leader who led with both heart and humor.

Although Dylan excelled in several sports, his greatest passion was baseball. He played in a variety of recreational leagues and travel teams across North Carolina, where his energy, dedication, and love for the game left a lasting impression on teammates and coaches alike. Whether he was giving an encouraging pep talk, cracking a joke in the dugout, or celebrating a big win with his signature grin, Dylan brought laughter and light to every team he was part of. Sports were more than competition for him; they were an opportunity for personal development, teamwork, and inspiring others to reach their potential. His legacy of impactful leadership continues to resonate with all who knew him.

Dylan had an infectious spirit—goofy, fun-loving, and full of life. He had a rare gift for making others smile, often turning even ordinary moments into unforgettable ones. Beyond his humor, he exemplified integrity, humility, and a quiet determination that inspired those around him to be their best selves. Through athletics, Dylan not only pushed his own limits but also encouraged others to reach theirs, leaving behind a legacy of leadership rooted in kindness, laughter, and love.

I am deeply honored that the 4th Down Foundation has chosen to present the Dylan Scott Arnold Leadership Award in memory of my brother, Dylan. This award recognizes an athlete who embodies the remarkable qualities Dylan exemplified: unwavering positivity, humility, accountability, motivation, openness to feedback, and a dedication to continuous improvement—for themselves and their teammates. Dylan’s spirit of leadership and joy continues to shine through this meaningful recognition, reminding us all to lead with heart, embrace laughter, and live with purpose.
